    Volunteer for JA Junior Achievement of Hawaiʻi Island programs are taught in the classroom by volunteers from local business, by parents, and by people from the community. You do not need teaching experience: JA's delivery system provides the training, the materials and the support, and the curriculum is written to be taught by a volunteer.

    How to sign up

    1. Email jahilo@jahawaii.org or call 808-292-0570.
    2. Tell us which grade level interests you — elementary, middle school or high school — and roughly how much time you can give.
    3. We match you with a classroom and a program, and send you the volunteer kit and training for it.
    4. Sign the Volunteer Conduct Standards form, which every JA volunteer completes before teaching. See the conduct policy.

    What volunteering involves

    You teach a short sequence of prepared, activity-based lessons in one classroom. Elementary and middle school programs are six volunteer-led activities each. The high school Company Program is a larger commitment: teams meet each Tuesday evening for 15 weeks from September through December, advised by local business people. Volunteers are also needed off the classroom floor — on the board of directors, and at the annual Futures Unlimited Banquet and Business Hall of Fame events.
